I have read various threads on removing the rusted cradle bolts. I am wondering how much heat you could apply to the nuts on the rear ones through a hole cut in the frame before damaging the rubber mounts, Propane or acetylene torch? Just wondering what others have experienced with this. Mine are badly rusted and I don't think Liquid Wrench will do it.

If yours are as bad as you descrive, I wouldn't worry about damaging the rubber bushings, as the bolts will have rusted solid to them. Get a saws all and cut the bolts so you can drop the craddle. You will need new rubber bushings anyway, or you could just upgrade to urethane ones and reuse the sleeves from the old rubber bushings, that way you don't have to worry about pressing them out.

I am talking about the back mounts. I think avengador1 is talking about the front ones as I see it. If you are indeed referring to the back ones let me know as I don,t see now you could use a saws all on them.

If you have to cut a hole in the frame to heat the bolts, then it would be better to just burn them or cut them off and replace them with new ones. The rubber mounts are really cheap and you can cut through them near the head of the bolt and then just slide the cradle down. Once the cradle id lowerd it will be easier to remove the bolts.

I still am curious about the make up of the rear mounting bolt. When I look down the frame from where the bumper was at the nut end of the mounting bolt I see a post approximately 1 or 1 1/2 inches tall. Is this all nut or a nut on tope of a sleeve or a captive nut on some sort of extension? As I mentioned mine is rusted and hard to identify. A photo of a non rusted would be nice.
