I removed the panel behind the seats to have it reupholstered and noticed that there are two "brackets" with about 1-1/2" long vertical knotches... They're on both sides close to the edge and about four or five inches below the windows. The panel was once reupholstered and I didn't notice the... "thingies" until I removed the panel. They look like something was suppose to lock into them or snap into them... What?

I think they were used in an earlier year for something, but that something was either redesigned or removed.

Edit: they might also be used as spacers.

If we're talking about the same thing... in my model (1985) the side trim peice that surrounds the seat belt, has a lip that fits into both of those holes, on each side.

I'll vote for the mount where the fuzzy panel below the rear window snaps into.
