Hey guys.. just finished a engine swap.. and I go to put the decklid on when i realize that the elbo on the tension bar (CIRCLED) has somehow reversed itself and is in the way of the decklid bolting on. I cannot line up the bolts onto the brackets since it is now elbowing up instead of downward, and I have tried many attempts to pull it back down./ Has this happened to anyone else before? Anyone know a fix for this? I searched but nothing on this particular problem

Have to guess here but I would say you have the springs upside down and on the wrong side. They are wound about a half turn to get the lift preasure, so it would be easy for them to appear to fit in the other way.

I never got money for the door handle.

I never actually took off the tension bar, I just disconected it from the frame of the car (the 4 bolts that hold it on, 2 on each side)

Any ideas on how I can push it downward??

This has happened to me and another PFFer too. The little link that the deck lid spring is riveted to is going in the wrong direction. We did not take off the springs, just the lid but we did undo them from the decklid mounts on the firewall.
I fixed it by unbolting the decklid hinges from the firewall mounts and flipped the spring/link back over and them remounted the hinges. The decklid has to come off and the window needs to be covered with a piece of wood or something like that. Take off the lower nut and get the top nut real loose. DO NOT TAKE THE TOP NUT ALL THE WAY OFF. If you take off the top nut the hinge will SLAM up against the window. With the lower nut off and the top nut loose you can pull the spring forward enough to take out the pin. With the pin out it is safe to take out the top nut and flip over the spring link. Just reverse the order to assemble.
