Okay,

So after a major tune up, (the car was only running on two cylinders because of bad wires), new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and IAC valve for kicks. It idles nicely at about two needle widths below the 1000RPM mark (800ish?), when it starts.

It decides to crank and crank and crank, and sound like it's gonna start, but only on that rare occasion will it start. Throwing code 42 and 45.

When it does finally decide to start, like I said it idles nicely. As soon as I give it any gas at all it decides to die...unless i pump the gas pedal, then I can step it up to 2000 to 3000 RPM no problem. It runs better above 2500 RPM. The next thing I have to check is timing, but I don't own a timing light, so I've gotta hunt to find one.

Any ideas?

Make sure the cap is on perfectly straight. Those go on kinda goofy some times when they are tring to seat over top of the module. Also I was just working on mine and found the last owner had the yellow and green wires sticking out the side of the cap and crimped between the plate and cap.
don't rule out the fact that some new caps are also defective.

I also had the problem with the wires to the ign module being pinched. Mine was grounding and refusing to start too. It began like what you are describing, and then simply refused to start at all.

Alright...well, I'll take the cap off tomorrow, and try and reseat it. If that fails I guess it's on to setting the timing.

Alright...checked the timing today. Number 1 and 4 are both at the 8 mark. So that's not the problem... Any more ideas? Oh yeah, replaced the O2 sensor today too.
