Does anybody know how the inputs to the IAC stepper motor work? GM shows the motor as having two coils. Are they energized alternatively to step one way or the other? Or do they have to alternate to keep stepping in the same direction? Does polarity come into it?

I'm trying to figure out a simple manual control for a EFI project. Thanks for any help.

The polarity of the coils does change. Here's a link to a tutorial on stepper motors.
