I am having a tough time finding wheels for my 88 GT in the right offset. I know alot of people use 40 offset all around and it looks alright but in my mind the rear looks to be tucked in a little to much. So would it be alright to use a 5 mm spacer or maybe even closer to 10 mm to bring just the rear wheels out alittle bit.

Thanks,
Chris

Chris,

It is possible to use a spacer, but I would try really hard to find the correct wheel before resorting to that. One option is to purchace different sized (width) wheels for the front and back or even a different offset. When you introduce a spacer into the mix, you can have imbalance problems and such. Although, on the grand scale of things, 5mm is not that much. 10mm is pushing it.

Just my two cents.

Paul

P.S.: How is that rear fascia doing?

I would rather not have to use a spacer but I just cant seem to find wheels that I like in the right size and offset without paying over $350 per wheel.

And I am still dealing with the insurance company. They only want to give me $1300 when I have quotes saying it will take nearly $2000. But my guess is that we will go back and forth with it for a while.

Years back I was gonna do the exact same thing. I cant see how 5mm would cause any problums. It should be enough to even up the wheels.

I've been thinking of useing a small spacer also. I just got wider tires (215's) and they occasionally rub on my struts.

Well, the wheelstuds can be too short....I bought 5mm spacers for the rear (87GT)
but I havent put them on yet because it looks like there are not enough threads left to savely secure the wheelnuts.... You might have to order longer studs if you want to do it right...
