Well I am trying to get ready for a local show that is focused on apperance mods. I was looking for things that I could do that I would like and I decided that that I didn't like how the bottles looked under the hood, so I painted them.

I used engine enamal in low gloss black. I think that it was plasti kote brand. I have used it before and it has held up well. I also painted the black on the lights and the engine grates with the stuff. It is a very close match to the black that the inside of the hood is painted with. When I showed my friend he couldn't figure out what I did. In fact, he didn't even realize the bottles were there. Just as a note the white lines that you see on them are view windows so that I can tell how much fluid is in the bottles. The other thing that I learned is to let the paint dry overnight. I put the bottles back in the same day and dinged up the coolant bottle pretty bad since the paint was still soft.

if your friend didn't notice what you did, the judges might not either...

To each their own I guess. I scuffed and painted my headlight trim rings semi-flat black to get rid of the ugly rust spots and painted over the plastic skirts in the same color to clean them up a bit.

the plastic wire looms come in colors other than black too if you wanted to color-match your paint with them. Sounds to me like the show is looking for more bling though.

Nice and easy mod. The look much better painted color matching the car. I used a plastic prep before the paint just in case. My red car has red bottles and the yellow one has silver. Also I added Fiero decal for a final touch. Which I could post pics.
The headlight trim can be easily restored instead of painted. I had that rusted problem on both cars. Use a nice mag/wheel polisher (Mother's worked for me) and give them a good polish (hand will work fine) and all rust stains will come out and will end up as shiny as new. Beleive me. It is just a detail area thath many people don't see but it is worth it.

I have some of the plastic tubing in red. I might put it on yet, I am not sure yet. The reason that i painted them black is becuase I don't want to see them. I had thought about red but decided that I would rather have them blend. The judges interview you a little bit and I will point it out. as for the headlight trim, thanks for the idea I was washing out under the hood and mine are all rusty. Mothers is great stuff I did my tail pipes with the stuff yesterday and they almost look new. I wish I could have gotten them off so I could paint the pipe behind the horns though.
