I'm looking into buying some American Racing wheels size 15x7 and I'm hoping someone can give me some suggestions on tire size. One place I went to said a P205/60/15R would be fine, while another said that would rub and I shold go w/ a P205/57/15R. So what do you guys run?

Thanks

Drew

I have 15X7 wheels on my 86 SE (notchback) and I'm running 225/50R15's because it keeps the overall diameter of the tire near stock so the speedo reads correctly. If you have a fastback GT, I would just go with the 86-87 GT stock tire sizes.
I have no rubbing problems and my car is lowered 1.5"

No, It should be fine. Your stock tire size should have been 215/60R14's and the next size up to maintain stock diameter is 225/50R15.
I am using BFGoodrich Euro T/A's and the car sticks very well to the road.

I'm running a set of '88GT rims on my '85GT with 195/60x15 tires on the front and 225/50x15 tires on the rear. As said previously, this keeps the overall OD the same as the stock 14" tires that came on it.

Tirerack says the Optional 15"wheel size is 205/60/15R. Does this sound right?

BTW my stock size is P185/80/13R.

Can you run 215s all the way around? Or, are 205s a better idea? I have an 86GT.

Your SE came with the 13" wheels? I thought all the SE's from 1984 thru 1987 all had the 14" wheels.

If you stock wheel size is 185/80R13 The replacement size would be 225/55R15.

Here is a link to a tire calculator so you can see how much a tire size change can affect your speedo.
http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

Just type in your stock tire size and the new tire size and it will give you the measurements and speedo error.

Aas for the wheel itself, a 7" wheel can hold up to a 235 series tire.
