the heat shield on top of the catalytic converter, not the one attached to the frame to protect the cabin from heat, has come loose and now rattles anytime the exhast shakes, i.e. whenever its running, and now its getting to be a nusance as well as make me and others think my car is a piece. is it safe to just rip this piece of metal off or should i try to repair it??? will it just get warmer if i remove it?

hi if you mean teh aluminum shield that covers top and bottom on conv, just get one big stainless steel band radiator type clamp. or jion couple small togehter and wrap and tighten down around conv, it should hold very well, if one clamp wonmt do it just use two one in front and one in back, did on jeep while back, years, and still there , no more rattle ..............................
