Just replaced the pump and fuel filter. Now when I turn the key instead of the 2 second consistent pumping noise I'm used to hearing from the pump (before it broke), I hear "tat - tat - tat". Theres NO fuel being pumped out it seems. Any idea what the cause of this could be? Mixed up hoses or something???
hi when you install pump did you make sure that the two wires inside tank where fully seated into connectors?.also if you have air in lines, sometimes opening schreader valve will let it out while it is running, key on engine off?............................................

Yes, I did make sure that the two wires instide the tank were fully seated. Fuel isn't even making it to the fuel filter, let alone the schreader valve
hi if fuel is not getting to filter then either the feed line is obstructed or the pump is not working properly, you will probably have to replace the pump..........................as far as the pump,it is defective or the external wiring is some how compromised and must be repaired............................
ps did you try the"run power from cigarette lighter to adal, fuel pin in console" trick?, to see if the pump will run on its own, bypassing the relay and associated parts?...............

Slim possibility the fuel pump relay is cylcling rapidly, hence the tat-tat-tat-tat. Apply 12 v to terminal G of the aldl. This bypasses the fuel pump relay and ecm and sends 12 v directly to the fuel pump.
Any chance you reversed the leads on the pump when you installed the new one? I know some pumps require a new pigtail to be sliced in.

Sorry, but it looks like you may need to drop the tank again (check your fuses first). Some manufacturers of fuel pumps reverse wire the pump, for example the stock pump should be, small prong + and the wide prong -- negitive. The new pump may be like this (reverse wired) ,small prong -- negative and the wide prong positive. To make matters worse they dont always mark the prongs + and -- like the stock pump.Your pump may be running but possibly in reverse.I also use metal hose clamps on the ruber portion of the fuel pump hose, the metal clamps will keep the fuel pump from poping off the ruber hose.A thin coating of oil on the tanks ruber "O ring" will keep it from kinking when installing the lock ring. Also check your wireing connections. But first check your fuses, then check to see if you got fuel flowing (you can dissconnect the fuel line were ever it's easyiest, like pressing the schrader valve (or possibly by the fuel filter).
