what he's trying to say is that the Torque Convertor Clutch may be engaged because of a bad TCC solenoid. Unusual to have one stick in engaged position while parked, did the vehicle die at lights when you parked it for repairs?

well it never ran when i got the car.
it had been sitting for over 2 years tho.
When he parked it the only thing wrong was the fuel pump.
Ive fixed that problem.
now this....
he says he never had any problem with it before.
any way it couldve just gone bad sitting there all that time?

Mine sat neglected for over a year before I got it and it has the same problem every now and then. It has gotten better with use. I think time can mess them up.

i hope thats all it is, i mean i know its a common problem with these trannys soooo common i guess imma go ahead and replace the solenoid along with the pressure switch and the side cover gasket, i also saw something somewhere about a 3rd gear something? i forget what it was, maybe it was the pressure switch they were talkin about.
its all pretty easy to get to and pretty cheap parts so i guess ill do that. unless anyone else has ideas.

It's a three speed tranny. In third gear the TCC is supposed to lock up, drop your engine rpm, and save a little gas. If it doesn't 'unlock', you can have the problem you describe. You might try unplugging the TCC cable and see if that helps, although I don't think so, given the problem as you have described it.

have you changed the oil(low oil pressure will shut down the engine if the relay isn't working)

Take off the throttle body and clean all the crap out of the idle bypass circuit, and clean all the crap off of the IAC pintle, and clean all of the crap out of the EGR passages. Install with a new gasket. Then start troubleshooting. If I were you, I would also verify that the IAC is even working.

ok so i replaced the old ass oil filter with a new one AND replaced the TCC solenoid along with the 3rd gear pressure switch and it still does the same damn thing.
The engine has a lil intermittent hit and miss to it but i dont think that would make it stall when i put it in drive. Im stuck, what do i do now?
