I have a remanufactured V6 distributor from NAPA and when I put the cap on I must have got it on cockeyed and stripped the threads on the base plate. Any Ideas how to fix this?

The two holes in the base that the cap bolts to are completely stripped.........Paul

Its not a permanent fix but if you need the car you can take part of a paper clip and put it in the hole.
This will give the bolt something to bite into. I had to do this to get home one time, but it was only one side.
You could try some of the thread repair goop but I don’t know how good it will last.
You could try JB welding a couple nuts on the bottom of the plate.

Find 2 sheet metal screws that will make tight in the distributer plate. You can screw these through the cap holes, or worse case, drill the cap holes out slightly so that the machine screws turn freely in it.

And by the way, that distributor looks completely different that what was used in the Fiero:

I picked up a remanufactured one and it looked like that too.
It shorted out on me taking back the core so I had to put the old one back in.
I still have the old one installed and it is running better than the new one ever did.

I got a reman for my Formula. The one in it looked like your second pic, while the replacement looked like the first.

about the only 2 choices you have are:

1) used bigger screws - retap the hole for the larger one - or use the self tapping screws as meantioned above

2) Get some aluminum plugs and press them into the holes (have to drill the holes out larger), drill and tap them.
