hi awhile back i replaced the factory thermostat and fan switch with a hypertech low temp fan switch, 176F, and low temp thermostat , 160F, from fiero store, i have always had the car run fine..

reading old post about closed vs open,..i ran my scanner just to see what is going on in there, well thermo opens, scanner cant measure that,........the fan switch comes on at 182.9F@ and cools down to 171.3F@.at all times the scanner reports car is in closed loop.. ..at 145F it is in open loop...............

just an observation with data...

i know poeple say it will ruin rich and i just dont seem to see it?.
also i drilled a 1/8 hole for air and i tried regular vs drilled and it seems to take same amount of time to heat up?..............heater runs nice and hot, replaced three months ago and did coolant flush and refill one week ago.........................

just some observations..1986 auto v6........................

Pull your sparkplugs out and tell us what color they are. That will tell us if you are running rich or not.
