Unplug the TCC connector, which is directly below the throttle body (on the trans). It is a 4 prong square wheather-pak usually blue or pink. That will not allow the TCC to lockup (unless it is already locked up). If it still dies, then TCC solenoid could be in locked position. If it does not die, then TCC solenoid is bad and you might as well replace 3rd gear switch while you are at it. The other possibility is the IAC is not working properly......Paul

When it dies, does it stall very hard like you had forgotten to push in the clutch on a manual? Or does it slowly decrease the RPM until the engine quits? If it is the first, then the TCC is the problem. If it is the second, then the TCC is not the problem.

My ex's Corsica had this problem. It was going then we sould stop at the stop sign or light and the car would buck and die. In her case it was the Neutral safety switch located in the left side of the transaxle case (where the left front tire is) cost to repair was a shade over 50.00. S.Williams
