What are you guys using to block off th etubes coming off of the exhaust manifolds that went to the air pump? Also do you need to use any of the wiring from the auto tranny part of the harness or the power steering?

96 engine did not come with a manual tranny so it would never have had an air pump, 'Course I could be wrong (usually am according to my wife !).

On my '92 motor I got some little brass plugs from NAPA bolt section that fit perfectly. I don't remember if they were NPT or just straight thread.

ok, but where did the OTHER ends go? ie, what got disconnected and how did you handle the other end of those tubes? Plug something? Remove something? What happened and what was the end result and have you gotten thru an emissions check since then?

tia!!!!

Seeing how I live in California on my 96 I had to use them for the smog pump.

I didn't use the wires for the power steering at all. I used the auto tranny wires and wired them so the computer thinks it's always in 3rd or drive. The tubes off my exhaust manifolds went to the air pump which I deleted. I'm in the backwoods of Colorado and we have no emissions testing over here.

I'm doing a 3.4 DOHC 96-97 also, and I was wondering since almost everyone on this thread has a 96-97. Does anyone have extra parts?

I got a good deal on my engine, but there is a problem, and the problem is, that I'm missing alot of parts:

I would like to know if anyone here has any of this parts or knows somebody who has them, in any case you can email me at jgomez@ircc.edu

Also I will be it will be turbo charge and I was thinking of using the 3.8 SC second generation injectors, by the way what do you guys think about this idea?

The throttle body

The exhaust cross member between the two exhaust manifolds

The coil pack

A set of injectors from a 3.8 SC second generation

AC pump

And stock oil cooler.

Thank you and take care!

Thanks again!

the 96 engine has a air injection system pumping air into the exhaust manifolds. it is driven by a electric air pump that only runs for the first minute at start up. this is not needed in a swap that the emissions are not tested by the epa. just plug the manifold holes. i think the threads are the same as the threads that are used on hydrolic fittings that can be found in a hardware store.

here is a link to a thread i started last year. there is info on the 96 dohc c100 pin layout, and some schematics of how i did all my wiring. hope this helps a little. https://www.fiero.nl/forum/Forum2/HTML/038137-3.html
