I'm getting a set of exhaust manifolds coated by Jet Hot and I want to know which coating you have if you've used them. The normal one rated for 1300 degrees or the race one for 2400 degrees? The problem with the 2400 degree one (other than the added expense) is the color choices aren't ones I'd like and it's supposed to have a textured finish to it. I'd prefer the sterling silver but I don't know if the 1300 degree finish is doing the job for those of you who have had it done.
So let me know, which one do you use? Or if you don't, which would you recommend?

I have no personal experiecce with either, but 1300 does not sound like enough. At times the manifolds are RED HOT. This is an area to go the extra mile.
I bought some headers from WCF and they have a gray textured finish and are doing well, no flaking or discoloration. You could ask them what they use. I used to have some Fiero Store sprints and the coating began to flake after about a year. I also agree that 1300* is not enough, or at least marginal.........Paul

I have a set of the Fiero store Sprint manifolds. They lost their finish almost right away and started to flake, especially because I had a vacuum leak at the time that made them glow cherry red. I had them refinished in the sterling finish by Jet-Hot and they seem to be holding up pretty good. They have gotten a little duller, but I do not have any flaking problems at all, like I had with the original coating. Jet-Hot does have higher temperature coatings but they are only available in dark colors. www.jet-hot.com

I got the 1300* coating from JetHot. No problems one year later. It shouldn't be a problem for you. I put the coating on the WCF 3800 headers. They keep the heat inside so the coating itself really doesn't get that hot.
Wow, this is great! Thanks for the responses. I am taking off tomorrow and will probably mail the manifolds off to them for the sterling finish. There's still time for others to put their 2 cents in before then though. I know people out there have opinions, so keep 'em coming!
hi i got it done locally, brand name ceramic chrome, buffed to satin luster, 7 months and still holding, the only thing they warn is not to use caustic cleaners will damage finish,.....also while you are at it, do your y pipe, you will notice a difference, and port the before coating, make sure they do inside out................................................

The manifolds have been ported and welded by....It's been so long I forgot. Sorry! It's the guy who does a lot of them here. I'm trying to get a separate y pipe to send up so I don't have to take my car out of commission for too long (the GT's my daily driver, the 86's my backup). Anybody have one?

The shop that did my headers would not use any of the 1300* finishes on cars that were either supercharged or turbocharged. They said that the exhaust temps were too high in those applications. I had my headers coated in black upon their advice that black does a better job of controlling heat and will stand up to the higher temperatures of supercharged and turbocharged engines.
No super or turbo charging here. I was thinking silver just for the looks. Most of the engine is black from oil, etc. anyway. I guess eventually they may end up black! Anybody have any comparison testimonials between silver and another color? Or just plain opinions will do.
