my brother has a 93 Firebird Formula. we just did his water pump last night, degreased the engine and everything. now it wont start, just cranks, fuel pump kicks on and everything. Now the ingition module and coil were out of the car when it was hosed down. Ignition module is new but we also pulled in one from a parts car, that didnt work either. Now we put a spark tester on the wire coming off the coil and it didnt produce any spark, tried another coil and it did the same thing, tested the black plug going to the coil and it has 12 volts going to it at least. So couldnt get a spark from 2 coils cant get it to start. any ideas?

Could be water in the Opti-spark? I know they have weep holes to let condensation out and I've heard they are prone to problems if you have a water pump leak and water gets in them.

I'm sure the LT1 experts will be chiming in soon. You might also check http://www.lt1tech.com

Hope this helps.

You can still have moisture in the optispark as the GEN 1 optisparks do not have the vent hole like the GEN2 has.

Yeah, I'll bet it's moisture in the optispark. I've put waterpumps on several Caprice/ImpalaSS's with the LT1, and almost every one of them got coolant into the optispark.
