I'm going to go pick up my new Fiero tomorrow at 5:30 ( ) The car has has some brown spots/stains in the interior I'd like to get cleaned up this weekend (since I won't be able to drive it till I can register it). So I'm going to take the weekend to clean it up, change burned-out bulbs, etc.

Are there any cleaning products anyone would recommend that work especially well on the Fiero's carpet, seats, and/or door panels? It's a red 84 SE with grey interior

When I first got my Fiero I did nothing but clean it (since I couldn't drive it). I had really good luck with Armor All's upholstery cleaner. the previous owner chewed and it got all of the chew stains out of everything

If you want the carpets really clean - remove them, take them to a self serve car wash and pressure wash . Put them out in the sun to dry and then reinstall. A bit more work but they can really be brought back to life this way.

If there's nasty stains (rust etc) in the carpets, or seats, go to Home Depot and get this stuff called "Stain Extinguisher". Comes in a can that looks like a fire extinguisher.

Works like crazy!

Pick up a nylon pot scrubber brush, and use that to work the stuff in, then blot off with a clean towel (that you don't care about).

Use the brush to work your favorite cleaner into the door handles, and anything else with a grain in it as well.

I am not sure about what is great for the upholstry...still working on the ultimate product find, However for the vinyl and plastic parts Mr. Clean magic eraser works like a charm! We just bought a different car with a tan interior and the a-pillar was black from the guy's greasy hands, minimal elbow grease and a little water and it was back to tan in no time, in fact it looks brand new!!!

I found the Simple Green, how much should I dilute it? 2:1, 4:1? I asked some people at Home Depot about Stain Extinguisher, they never heard of it, but htey had some other stuff that sounded promising, wish I could remember the name, came in a whole kit. Couldn't find Armor All's upholstry cleaner or Mr. Clean in the four places I've checked so far.

No stain ext.? Odd - maybe it's only in the Canadian stores. ???

Forgot about my favorite cleaner! Aerospace 303. http://www.303products.com/main.php

I use the protectant exclusively now. Never used anything better. And no I don't work for them.
