Alright, here's the deal. My passanger side front tire makes sort of a clunk when i go over bumps a certain way sometimes. Well I figure things are bound to be getting worn under there. So I want to rebuild my front suspension. I don't want to lower (due to the chin spoiler and fact that i live in PA), I have new kyb's in the front, everything else is original as far as i know. I will have somewhere between 300 to 500 dollars to work with, and I want to try and make it as good as new if not better. The money left over from the project if any will go towards other projects. If i'm persuaded money that i've had set aside for Mr Mike's seats will go towards the front suspension. Pllleeasssee help me decide what should be replaced. If you give some idea's like front bushing in poly please give part numbers if at all possible. Poly is definitely something I'd like to do.... anyone even have a part number for a kit or something? Annnyway... HEELLLP =).

What year?

Poly doesn't make it better than stock just stiffer and more road noise. If you like that then poly's the way to go. If you drove a brand spanking new Fiero, I think you'd be pleased with the suspension. Certainly there are some tweaks that help.

At a minimum:

The lower ball joints
The upper and lower control arm bushings
Outer tie rod ends
Swaybar bushings (frame and control arm)

Second:
Upper ball joints
Rack

Opps sorry, meant to put this in there... 86SE

Well actually I would rather go with rubber in the front, but wasn't sure if you could still get rubber bushing for the front... so can you? Also what do you mean by rack? As in rack and pinion rack?

RIght, the rack and pinion. Replacing the inner tie-rods doesn't solve the play in the rack itself. I know some people replace only the inners but there are rebuilt racks available.

Yep, all of the rubber bushings are still available. If you want top notch, use Moog parts.

Thanks a lot TK. Can I get most of the parts off summit racing and such?

Don't know. If you are going non-poly you should be able to get everything at any auto store. If you go poly, then I believe Summit has it. Lots of places have the poly.

The lower ball joints are pressed in so unless you have the tool, most machine shops can do it. On the upper ball joint, you might want to get Moog Problem Solvers. They allow for some camber adjustment. You'll need an alignment when you are through anyway. Those give more range.

Finally, you might want to get the 9/3mm caster washer set. Fiero's like lots of caster and the stock 6mm washers don't seem to give enough. I had to install them in both of my 86SE to get enough caster.

Well after doing some searches and some reading, I'm thinking I'll replace upper and lower ball joints, all front bushing with new rubber (it a daily driver), inner and out tie rods. Does it matter if the sway bar bushings are poly when everything else is rubber? Like will it negatively affect anything? I'd like to have everything in advance before I would start the project, what all rubber bushing should I be looking to get? Just control arm bushings?

I run poly on the swaybar at the frame and rubber at the ends and control arms. I haven't noticed poly there having the same reduction in ride quality at when it's used in the control arms and motor mounts.
