It goes on the decklid. You know that wide square piece in the back over the engine ? Yeah, there. Not on the roof, not on the hood, it goes on the DECKLID.
You're welcome.

IO have an OEM wing for my 86 se (85 gt style) where do I bolt / drill the holes for it?
I’m at work now but when I get home I will measure where my wing is, one thing to watch out for is putting a hole in the part of the deck lid that seals the trunk.

Now that's funny

29 1/2 from the front of the deck lid to the front of the wing stand - NotchBack 31 1/2 from the front of the deck lid to the front of the wing stand - FastBack
Those are stock numbers but I had an 85GT that had the wind farther back and it looked good. HTH

if i were you i would move it about an inch back from the stock location, so the furthest part of the wing , sticks back out as far as the rear bumper, i think it looks a little better im sure others will agree

I totally agree!! it makes it look more aggresive from the side like that...
Look at a few pic's of "Revin's" he did it to his... Not sure who else did this, but maybe do a search for 'wing relocation'..
Post pic's when you get it mounted!

Can someone post a pic of the underside of thier engine cover that has a factory wing installed? I was looking for these so-called dimples on my 86 GT but came up empty. I have a wing coming courtesy of eBay and would like to know exactly where it's supposed to go. Thanks!

Measure the distance between wing-stands and divide by two. Measure the with of the back of the deck-lid and divide by two, put a piece of tape on the deck-lid where that number measures out to. That is the center of the deck-lid. Now take the first measurement that you divided and put a piece of tape to the right and the left of the deck-lid center line. That's the side to side position of the wing. That should match the wing posts perfect if you did it right. Now measure back from the front of the deck-lid and put a piece of tape across your other pieces of tape at: 29 1/2 - Notch-Back or 31 1/2 - Fast-Back (Thanks Jake). Now take the rubber/plastic gaskets off the bottom of the wing and place them over your tape marks and take a marker and mark on the tape where the bolt holes are. Take the wing and set it over top to make sure it all lines up. Drill the holes, and bolt it down. Enjoy the new wing and it's fun obstructing view .
