Ok i am weighing some options.
I am installing a 2000 3800sc from a regal into my fiero 5speed stick. I Need to do away with all the Auto trans stuff if i get the stock GM PCM, or spend $1200 and get the GM programming software for my scan-tool and get rid of that stuff, or spend $700 on the haltech and start from scratch to even make it run. Or dummy up something to make the stock PCM think its looking at an automatic. Or go to a OBD1 computer and go backwards in rechnology and still have to dummy up something to make the PCM think its looking at an automatic, and i dont know for sure, but i believe with OBD1 PCM's have issues with the dual knock sensors on the newer seriesII engines?
Anyhow, just thinking out loud right now, i am planning on installing the engine in about 2 weeks so i have some time to decide, but which way should i go? Whats the advantages to the Haltech? I searched and didnt find much info on it. Theres not much info anywhere on the haltech.....i have many questions about it, does it come with any kind of materials for making a harness or do i need to hook it up one wire at a time to the stock harness, or make my own? BTW, i am not opposed to that if i need to do it. Does it come with Tables and programming to work with the 3800 seriesIIsc? Or do i need to beg others/make my own, to even get it running?
Sorry for so many questions!!!
Just trying to decide what i wanna do and looking for input from what others have done.
Thanks in advance!!
