I was watching Horsepower TV and they built up a 472 Cubic Inch Small Block Chevy. The block has a 4.2 in bore and 4.25 stroke (x8) to get you to 472 cu.in. After it's built up it's only about an inch taller than a "normal" 350 SBC. It would probably fit transverse in a Fiero, but it would be pointless because if the 676 hp didn't lunch your tranny the 633 ft-lbs of torque certainly would.

Dart Iron Eagle block, forged crank, aftermarket everything else. Nothing stock. But hey, still can't beat that many cubes in such a small package, if that is what you are looking for.

Agree everything aftermarket, but from apearances it looks like an SBC and shares all the same mounts and belhousing. It might fool a few people into thinking it's a 350, until you blow their doors off.

that block is a custom casting. the cam shaft was moved up to fit the large radius crank. the oil pump and distributer locations are a little different, not to mention the much larger water pockets around the cylinders, they patrude out of the block a little. all in all pretty cool block. took alot of work in the design process

We just had one here a few days ago that we were modifying the oil pan for a friend of ours. It was a Motown block wifth I believe dart heads on it. It was a 454 small block. The valve covers said 454 Hardcore on them. The dyno sheet with it showed 603 @5900 rpm but I don't remember what the torque was. The block had some huge cutouts in the sides for the crank to be able to spin in there. It looked almost flimsy right there where they had cut so much out of the block for clearance. Just in case someone wants to spend a little money the owner of it says he only paid $10,700 for it but that included shipping. Gee, I think I'll take two if that included shipping.... yeah right.

It could be put in, but not transversely. The TH325 could handle it. (beefed up) Internals on the 325 are almost same as TH400. Big aftermarket.
The TH425 is almost identical to the TH400. The TH325 is not nearly as strong as the TH425, it would be very expensive to get the TH325 to handle 600+ lb-ft of torque. ANd even if it was easy enough, the ring/pinion set on the TH325 is much smaller than the TH425 differential. Similar to the difference between a GM 10 and 12 bolt.
