How do I remove gauge needles?! by InDeX420

Ok, im getting REAL frustrated here, i have my whole cluster out trying to put on these gauge faces, i managed to remove the 'cap' frin the tach needle which let me slide the face on...the othr gauges speedo temp and fuel WILL NOT come off...ive been prying with a fork and im afraid if i pry anymore they will break off....is there any easy way to remove these?

Hmm... Usually they come off pretty easy... When I can't get them to release using my fingers, I get a pair of needlenose pliers, and cradle the needle base, and pull straight up. As long as you pull straight up, you won't break anything, if you have anything cockeyed, you might bend the post.

Get two spoons. Have someone hold the gauge and pry up on the needle using both spoons.

Maybe you need a bigger...fork.

not a dessert fork, or a salad fork. something with the longest tines you can find.

seriously. Maybe just a little more leverage will do it. Now putting those needles back on, that's another story.

or a fork and a spoon as a fulcrum.

I don't see a need for a knife.

I wouldn't want to come off as having some cutlery prejudice.
