Can the oil pan on an 88 v6 2.8 be removed by just lifting the car and accessing it from the bottom?

Well just looked it up in the shop manual and the answer appears to be no to my question. You have to remove the Flywheel Shield or Clutch Housing cover and the Starter. I'll have to look those up and see how difficult that looks.

Thanks

Thats not all. On my 87, which had an 88 block, I had to remove the flywheel shield and move the starter (easy), but then unbolt the passenger side engine mount bracket and lift the engine off of it to get the pan to clear the block. If you have never done it before, I would estimate atleast 5-6 hours to complete.

Well heck, I wonder how much it will cost at the shop. I don't have the ability to raise the engine and actually that sounds rather scrary.

Thanks for your input.

IT IS A PURE B!TCH. It is definitely the hardest by far of all of the 2.8's. You have to remove bolts from the front of the engine where the brackets bolt on. I would rather do 4 pan drops on an 86 that 1 of these.
Yep, I agree......at least 5 or6 hours and a GOOD set of tools with lots of patience thrown in.......LOL

Is the difference on the 88 car?? I have an 88 eng in my 86, and it wasn't that bad. Remove the starter, remove front eng mount, remove pan bolts... This is mated to a 4spd trans if it matters.
