Hey guys, my '88 GT has one headlight that does not open under power. It closes under power just fine and it cranks up manually ok, too. This is the right side headlight. As I read the wiring diagram and the information in Ogre's Cave, this means that it can ONLY be the controller module. Is this correct, or is there something else that can be wrong in the wiring? Both headlights light, and the left side works correctly. Also: is there a car other than the Fiero that uses the same control module?

Thanks for your help!

If you need a controller I have one. I read your post before I went to the salvage yard this morning and I picked one up for you.

One motor refusing to open is likely the motor. It usually means the motor is binding more than it should and the module is shutting it off. (You want this to happen.)

To test...

Turn the knob on that motor one turn to loosen it then shut the hood. Turn on the lights. If it comes up now then you need to lube the motor inside.

You need a drop of oil in each of the bearings in the lower section. The top bearing under the knob is not likely to ever bind but you can try taking the knob off... be careful. the knob likely breaks easy as old as it is.

You may also need parts... Rodney Dickman has all you need.

If it won't come up then yes the module could be bad.
