I just pulled my flywheel and there are all these little craks on the fly wehhl surface. Can they be removed when I machine it? Is this normal? Also should I machine the pressure plate surface??

Those are all stress cracks, probably caused by abusing the clutch. You would be better off getting a new flywheel in my opinion, as they can work their way deep into the surface, and resurfacing the flywheel may not get rid of all of them.

Considering where the flywheel is located related to your back.........are you sure you want to chance a questionable stress cracked part??? Have you ever seen what a grenade does to a body??? Just a plain visual inspection doesn't cut it, you need to have it magna fluxed to really see how many micro cracks are in the part, and for the cost of checking it properly, you might as well just get a good replacement.
Assuming we're talking about the same thing, I've rarely pulled a tranny that the flywheel didn't have very small hairline heat cracks on the surface. These can be taken out with a machining of the flywheel. If they are deep enough to catch your fingernail, and/or machining doesn't take them out, then PLEASE get a new flywheel. I agree with above, just making a subtle distinction. Good luck!

I fully agree, not worth taking the chance. Also if you do machine them out, your likely to take so much off the surface that the slave cylinder wont operate the clutch properly.

PS. never really gave it much thought as to the location of the flywhell being directly behind me....got me thinking a little
