In the effort to reassemble the Fiero with the 3.1 I am putting things back like the deck lid. Because the P.O. took off the keyed entry the only way to open the deck is with the button on the dash.

This worked great before taking it off and changing out the engine. Now it won't work and I don't dare shut the lid.

I plugged the leads back together- any thoughts??

The release solenoid gets its ground through the latch loop, so it won't pop with the decklid open. To test, run a jumper cable between the latch loop and the lock mechanism, the solenoid should pop just fine.

You guys are right on! Works fine now.

Now if I can get the radiator fan to work I 'll be ready to roll.
