My Holley 4160 has a 1/4" intake apperture on the primary bowl.

It looks like it can be ported to 3/8".

I have been told by some that running 3/8'" to the carb will prevent high end starvation, but.... this is only a 2.8 I'm fueling.

My lines to and from the Regulator/Tank are 3/8" ID. The line I am talking about is the carb line.

It seems to me that 1/4" should do the job.

What is the consensus on this?

Use 3/8". You'll never have to change it and it won't be too big.

I'm running #6 Russel Braided hoses from tank to regulator, to filter, and to carb. It's about 3/8" all the way. You can buy a 3/8" fitting for the carb at most speed/hot rod shops.

I've been checking for 3/8" fittings to mate to my 4160. No luck. Those special Holley threads were a problem. The best I could do was a 5/16".

In addition, the threaded Holley piece, when I examine it, actually has a port which is less than 1/4". Hmm.... So, I'm going to port out the gas intake to 1/4" (hard to believe)!

I have been asking around and the consensus is that with the Fiero fuel pump suppling way more gas than the car needs, that the 1/4 line from the regulator will actually deliver well to 6,000 rpm.

The consensus at our local parts emporium was that if the motor was bigger, ei. 3.8 etc., that 1/4 would be a little small, but that the 2.8 should do ok, given the fuel pump with 3/8" lines and the volumetric capacity of the 2.8.

I will be getting some pics together of the regulator rig. I'll post them when I am able.

The consensus in various conversations today with local v8 hotrodders is that the Fiero fuel pump running at 40+ psi. mated up to the Holley setup regulated to 6 psi will be pretty good in the fuel delivery department.

I'll try it out, and then when I find out I am not getting enough fuel at the high end, I'll put another effort into finding a 3/8" fitting for the carb.

Thanks for all the help guys.
