I was wondering if anyone has done this. The lock on my decklid has been punched out, leaving just a hole in the back, so i can open it with a screw driver. Could i just shave my decklid and use a keyless entry type thing to pop it open? The only draw back that i could think of, is if my battery died, i would have no way of opening my deck lid, therefor no way of jumping my battery.

I had mine shaved for about a year. It was great until my decklid pop broke .

Right now I have a ghetto azz hole on my trunk lid. I really have to put a lock in there.

If you have remote release your halfway home. Fill the hole, install a backup cable (ie/ hood release cable, gas cap cable) and have the end where you can get at it in case electrical one wont work.

If your battery dies I believe theres a device on the market that you can put in your lighter socket and the other end goes in another cars lighter socket. This will power your car and allow you to hit the deck release. If you can't find one and you have a stick shift, try "kick Starting" on a long hill. That use to work on the older cars.
The cable idea mentioned above is even better.

I shaved the lock on my Fiero. It wasn't too hard, but my method was kind of ghetto. I have had my battery die, but I jumped the battery from the cigarette lighter. I plan on moving my battery to under the hood, and possibly rigging up some kind of extra release cable.

Mine and FieroChicks cars both have keyless entry and keyless trunk. I dont know how we lived without it.

Stuff like go to get something from car and realize you left the keys inside. I just holler up to Fierochick to unlock my car, she hits the button from inside and click its open.

I am in the house and someone needs to get something from my car, I hit the button without even pulling the keys out of my pocket.

I am going to the car with an arm load of stuff. I can just push the button on the keypad rather than needing to get the keys out and stick the key in the lock turn it.

But the best thing.

When I am at the street races, and the cops show up, in mid stride running to my car, I hit the button, alarm turns off, doors unlock, I can swing the door open jump in and be gone much faster than if I had to unlock the door in the dark.

I think anyone that has keyless will have similar stories about how they love having it.

We had a special deal going with one of our club members where we could get an alarm with keyless controls installed for 150USD.

I have keyless entry...for the passenger side. The damn driver's side won't open with one push of "unlock" so I have to still use my key after I disarm the alarm. The locks in my dad's 83 Z28 are the same way. I'm sure I could probally take it apart and do something to relieve this problem.

Just drive without a decklid vent on the side without your battery. Hey, I did it for awhile when I kept having battery trouble. It was easier than keep reopening the hood.

You can get a Bulldog remote door and trunk kit for about $50 US. It installs easily as well.
