I was talking to an old time stock car and race boat mechanic and driver who told me this. (He's been at this for over 40 years)
He says that the 2.8, when pushed to 7,000+ rpm (he had a carbed unit) will starve for oil in the heads. He says that the answer, if you really want to push the motor when turboing, without blowing it up, is to install the big block Chevy oil pump.
He tells me the big block pump will bolt right in to the 2.8 and your oil pressure will jump up considerably with no lube problems no matter what rpm's you run.
Has anybody tried this and is this guy right about the interchangability of the 2.8 oil pump with the big block pumps?
