i honestly don't know the diff between a 3.4 and a 3400 but is it possible to twin turbo this engine without major engine build up? has anyone ever done this or single turbo? i would go 3800 SC but i hate the sound of a supercharger and i would have to kill my car cause it would get on my nerves, would a 3800 w/o a supercharger work better for a TT (twin turbo) setup? thanks for the help, Travis

The 3.4L is the earlier engines, The 3400 is the newer engines.
The same goes for the 3.1L and the 3100 engines or the 3.8L and 3800 engines.
The XX00 style of naming engines is the newer engines.

it would be easier to go with a single turbo since there are many kits available. Twin turboing will not give you much of an advantage and would be more costly. You would definitely have to fabricate everything yourself, and that takes time.

The 3800 supercharged engine is different from the normally aspirated engine. For one the compression ratio is lower on the supercharged engine.

Not to mention certain internal parts such as connecting rods and pistons are beefier in an engine that came from the factory with boost. There are a few people throwing boost at otherwise stock engines that never came boosted but I don't recommend it unless you like living dangerously.

Factory components are designed as cheaply as possible to meet whatever warranty limits they fall under. With that being said, should you decide to put boost on a 3.4 or 3400, you can get away with 5-7 lbs of boost safely but anything more than that you had better upgrade the internals otherwise you are inviting disaster.

If you used a Supercharged 3800, then got rid of the supercharger and installed an intake manifold from an N/A car, you could turbo the 3800.
Darth Fiero on the forum has done that.

i was thinking of that last night, but how would that compare to the SC version? and how much are we talkin to build up an engine like the 3400 to take a TT setup?
