does anyone know where i could get a 12v power source for driving lights that would be hooked up in the front of the car? my dad said that i could use the power feed coming off the heater fan relay since it is always hot when the cars on. could i use the lighter socket in the car? btw these are 55w h3 halogen driving lights. if i figure correctly then i am going to need to pull an additional 10 amps on whatever i hook them to. i would really like to run it to the battery but i dont know how i could get from the front compartment to the engine bay without drilling a hole in he firewalls. i do have to have this car together as a daily driver so i cant remove half of the interior to get to the back.

One easy way where you have a strong 12v source is to come from the fuse box there is a contact from the battery just tap in it and go through the firewall to the lights,of course you would have to wire the switch to activate it .I dont know if you are using a relay for the lights but this is the best way to go to avoid a heavy current draw from the regular circuit which will produce reduced lighting because of the current drop.

Here's what I did I pulled power from the fuse block and went through the boot that the hood release cable goes through. To make a cleaner install, I mounted the relay for the lights on the firewall near the boot that I came through. Then I went inside the loom that goes to the Brake Lines then jumped it to the headlight Loom then out to the front of the car. If I can get someone to take some pictures of it for me I'll gladly post them but this wasn't on my car. This makes it look cleaner and like it was factory installed. In the back of the fuse block there's terminals that don't have wires going to them I soldered my power wire from that and used an inline fuse that I clipped to the fuse block release tab. Hopefully I can get you a couple pictures of the Fuse block and Fuse, the relay, the boot I went through and how it's routed. Hardest parts were hooking the wire to the fuse block and removing the Drivers headlight to put the wire inside the loom.

please post that for me it will make life much MUCH easier for me. i didnt even think of pulling power off the line going to the fuse block i guess it will do that with my radio too since the normal "memory" wire was toast when i took out the stock one. Thanks again and please post those pics and how you did it.

Why not just hook it to the open side of the parking light switch? Then as you turn the parking lights and your regular headlights, the other lights will be on also. Then you do not need another switch or worry about fooling around with the fuse box. I have my fog/driving lights hooked up this way and it seems to work fine. Ed

i just happen to be running aftermarket gauges to dash and decided to run inside wire loom, a red wire direct from batt past gauges to front compartment and added relay and a 3 fuse block, and one fuse will be for lights, to protect driving lights and car harness, then i reinstalled back all trim and console carpets , so you cant tell other then gauges that power comes from, someone elso dis a recent post with same question, have everything installed except lights, just waiting warm up , to put in...

with the age of these cars i prefer to use new wiring to do any electrical addons, even if it is a pain to install, saves wear stress on harness...

If you go to the fuse box and look up and to the front of the car (like you're going over the driver's wheel well) you'll find an open-faced box. The boxis white plastic and has wires plugged into it and also some empty brass female-type connectors. Some of the empty ones are "Always Hot" and some are "Hot" only when the ignition switch is in RUN position. Just plug your fused power line for the lights into one of the open ones you want.
