Once you unscrew the pod, is it easy to unhook all the wires? Are they just a few wire harnesses that will snap apart? Or do the wires all snake up into the pod, and then connect to the switches 'n stuff?

I'd like to take out the pod, bring it in my house, do some work on it, and then bring it back out.

Thanks in advance!

If you are talking about the "main" gauge pod, you do have to remove the side switches (ie: lights on left and Defroster, trunk popper on right), a t20 bit I think??? after that, it should be a fairly easy removal.

One thing to watch out for, the plugs on the back of the gauge panel can pull on the "printed" circuit plastic thingy (technical term ) and rip it. Just be careful and you will be fine.

Good Luck!

Just to expand on what KlingonFiero said, there are two wire bundles on the side that go to the side switches, you have to take them out first.

Then there are only three connectors for the rest of the cluster, one on either side of the back and then one on the lower bottom of the left hand side.

If your cluster is old, (and they all are) those traces on the back of the printed circuit board thingy are going to want to break so you have to be carefull. If they do break you can either try to repair them, or just solder a wire directly to where it needs to go. I had to repair a few in the past to get my dash lights working.

Thanks for the quick answers guys!

I've swapped the swithes in my other car, so I know that's a quick job. I'll try to use kid gloves when I deal with the circuitboard.
