I just got a complete performance sound system (Stock Version) and need a little help in the placement of the amp and wire routing. I got the sub in ok (jigsaw puzzle) and I beleive the wiring goes up along the passenger side A-pillar. But, I need some help in where the amp is placed and how the deck wiring is connected. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Peace, B2 OUT!!

Amp goes against middle of car on passenger footwell side under the plastic thing that is attached to the center skeleton.. if your car had performance sound before and it was removed the plastic will have a little holster thing in it... gimme a few and ill go snap some shots of mine..

#1, My car was devoid of the performance sound system originaly. This is a system upgrade. The carpet support had the holder for the amp. My question now is wire routing. It appears that the radio hooks directly into the amp harness and there is some peculiar items that I am not sure of. I need some guidence on this so I can get this all back together. I might need to note that my car was recently stolen and all the stereo wires were cut. So this will more than likely turn into a major project.

Peace, B2 OUT!

The wiring goes in sort of a sideways U. It plugs into the amp, goes to the left inder the dash, then connects to the amp. The connection to the radio simply plugs in, you plug one side of the harness into the radio, the other side into the dash wiring that was unplugs from the radio. Keep going left, there is a connector. It plugs into the smaller harness that has 4 wires. That wire goes the rest of the way to the left side of the car and up the pillar. Remove the factory dome light wire that goes up the pillar and the dome light. Connect the wires under the dash to the spot where you removed the old wires. Route the wires up the pillar and across the front of the headliner. Connect to the new dome light and it is in.

You will need to repair the factory wiring at the radio with a replacement end if it was cut off.

Electrathon, so the main part of the harness goes up the drives sider rather than the passenger side? Sorry, I have been up for a while and I am a bit tired. IF I remember correctly there were two connectors off of the radio. What is the disposition of those to connectors? I beleive that one connected in to the speakers and the other was the power and such. correct? LMK.

Yes, it goes up the drivers pillar. Pull out the existing white and orange wire and follow it's route.

The wiring that you are installing has the same connector in it as the big radio connector. Unplug the radio and plug the wires into the sub harness. Then plug the other side of the harness into the radio. The small connector to the radio stays in place.

BAM-BAM >> do you have the harness that is plugged into the amp? As I recall, each speaker output from the deck had 2 wires connected to them; one for the speaker and the other ran to the sub amp. Power for the sub amp comes from the 'original' deck's power antenna output - if you have changed the deck to a GM CD player (or other) you can just connect the amp power wire to ign (power when key on). If you have a harness, it's just a matter of matching the colors up from the amp to the wires in the radio harness and splicing them together. There is a diagram of the sub/radio connections in the Haynes manual.

Guys, you have come through with flying colors. CC Rider, thanks for the link. I got it all installed rather easily. Now, to get myself a deck to replace the stolen one. I do want to upgrade to the later model cd player or perhaps just go aftermarket. Thanks again, you guys have been great!!!

Peace, B2 OUT!
