Im installing a sunbird tach onto my fiero V6 console. The factory tach uses pins for GND, COIL and 12V.

The Sunbird Tach has several pins including GD, TA, and 1, 2, and 3 for the tach.
The boost has 1, 2, 3 , BS and IG.

My question is what pin(s) did you attach to work for the 12V pin for the tach?
Im assuming:
GND goes to GD
COIL goes to TA
12V goes to ???

The 12v should be power for the back light.

It's been a little while since I did mine(and I did it wrong the first time), I is for current or 12V.

BS is for the signal from your 2-bar map.

Be carefull getting the tach to fit. It took a little more finesse then I would have thought.

It looks like a bomb went off in my car. Its a pain just to get to this gauge. I will dremel out bezel to fit.

Howard: Is the 'I' you said was current the '1' on the sunbird gauge? I will go with your advice if thats the case

Delorean: the backlight you mentioned would only be 'hot' when the lights are turned on.

This mod is by no means plug and play.
My tach looks a bit different than most. I'll post a pic when I get my camera back. I'm going to try to use part of a paraboplic lense of a large flashlight in the bezel to give it more backlight.

It took me awhile to realize IG 'probably' stands for Ignition.

I will use the IG on this Sunbird/Grand Prix GTP? Tach and route it to the 24V factory pin.

I want to get electricals done before installing mechanicals. I will zero-in boost gauge to turbo afterwards. This tach looks different than most Sunbird tachs. Its probably a differnet year-maybe thats why it has IG instead of I.
