Greetings all... I got back from South America and left a week later for another trip to NC. Upon my return (I had loaned my 88 GT to a friend) I found that my little toy is sick. I suspect ignition... car will only rev to 3-4k, and lacks power. The person I loaned the car to claims it came on all of a sudden. It does not seem to be getting better but seems to be getting worse. Car has 63k miles, and the engine is factory stock. I swaped in another coil, no differece. Removed the front 3 plugs to check them and they look good. Cap and rotor are ok. Fuel pressure is steady at 40-42 psi, even under load. I have the factory service manuals and will be going through the flow charts but wandered if anyone has a good idea to try. I am pressed for time, and can't tinker like I use to. It's grim when you lack time to play with the toyz. Clogged cat perhaps? I did put a Borla exhaust on it a while back, but the reality is that I rarely have time to drive it these days. Bad ignition module? Anyone ever have this prob? Thanks in advance.

Well... I took it apart last Wed. I had the gut instinct to check the cat, and so it was! Clogged cat... but now I have another problem, now that the engine can rev again, it is leaking oil like the Exxon Valdez! @#$%^&*( Anyone ever blow a rear main seal or oil pan gasket due to a clogged cat?

Check around the base of the distributor for a leak. When the O-ring on the distributor shaft fails it looks like you have a bad rear main seal leak.
