Here's the story: I got the cooler fan switch by Hypertech and installed it, new connector and all. But now I'm not convinced its working right. I know the fan works cause it comes on if I turn on the A/C. However, it doesn't seem to come on at 170* or whatever.

I did a little test to day while I was sitting in traffic. The needle was getting close to 220*, so I flipped on the A/C and it cooled back down to like 150* in a few minutes.

So, is there a problem with the fan switch, or is the temp gauge all out of whack? Is there a way I can test to see if the fans coming on, other than wait till traffic comes to a dead hault and get out and look under the front hood?

PS I still need to fix it from the pegging according to that other post, so I think that may be a factor.

Check out theoggre's cave, here is a link. (also at the bottom of any page on the Forum) http://home.sprynet.com/~theogre/tunnel6/index.htm
Go the power train, then engine and then cooling. Hope you can nail down the problem.

hi i installed the same switch and thermo combo the fan should come on as soon as you get roughly 185 degrees, when you install fan switch, do not use any sealant, this will not let ground properly. also quick check is turn on ac, should run. another way is disconnect the single wire connector and gorund it agianst block, fan should run and this tells you wires al the way to fan work.. good luck

Ahh! Thank you silver86se!!!

I did just that. Since I was screwing it right into the block and it was potential source of a leak, what with being able to see the coolant when the switch was out, I used a sealant to make sure it couldn't leak. Well then, I shall be going in there friday (before the coast run! ) and redoing it.

Man I love this forum!
