I'm cheap. Let's get that out in the open, and I'll try most anything myself to save a buck. Anyway...
The A/C compressor hadn't been used on my 2.5/ '84 for awhile. I took it off and was able to get it "unstuck" by working it back and forth. I bought the R134 dryer and oil kit from the fiero store and followed the instructions. No problem so far. I used a vaccuum pump and brought the vaccuum down and there didn't seem to be any leaks. Now the problem. I can't seem to get any R134 from the small Wal Mart recharge bottles into the system at the dryer. The cans are punctured ok but when hooked to the dryer I can't get them to empty into the dryer. What am I doing wrong?

Some of the adapter ports require the removal of the R12 schrader valve before you install the adapter, some require it be left in, I am guessing that you did or did not do it correctly here.

I am more cheap than you, but after doing A/C work for 15 years, I have to say that you are doing the wrong thing trying to save a bound up compressor. Even if it does work it will self destruct soon, then you will have to deal with the metal that will be pumped into the system. I recomend getting a used compressor that is not bound if you do not want to pay for a rebuilt (wich is first choice).
