If you could strip down a fiero to the bare minimums, put in any engine / turbo / sc, performance parts, race tires, ecm, etc. How fast could you get a fiero in the 1-60 and 1/4?

List your engine choices, mods, and why you estimate this time?

Why?
Throw it all away. Make a stretched 'glass lookalike body and a custom tube chassis and big V-8. It'll go as fast as any other funny car.

Define cheating. Your idea of what is and is not cheating will decide the limits of what you can do.

If all you want is a quarter mile car, 10 seconds is easily reachable with a race-only Fiero. I would imagine 8-9's are also possible, still keeping the transverse engine layout. You'll probably only get a pass or two on the transmission, but you didn't specify reliability.

I think some people are missing the purpose of the mid-engine concept.....NOT to be a dragster....but to be able to out corner any thing on the road that has a front mounted engine. (I bet this thread will break all HELL LOOSE!) I just could not take it any longer! If you want a dragster go get a firebird or a camero or a vette...they DON'T corner or handle like a mid-engine car....and yes, put a large engine in a fiero or mr2 and it will be faster, but at the same time loose some of its cornering ability! The more the weight distribution gets off from 50/50 the more corning agility you will loose!...I frequently run cameros and other large horsepower cars over mountain roads and they out run me in the straightaways, but I can pass them in turns because I can speed up going into sharpe turns while they are having to apply brakes to slow down in turns to keep from loosing control. You and I can speed-up going into and around turns (If You know how to drive a fiero) while they have to slow down...It frustrates the HELL out of them, but they have no choice....or they will go off the mountain after their front-engine cars sling them around the corners....SORRY I coud not take this dragster mentallity anymore! I do not mean to offend anyone, especially any fiero driver......THANKS, GARY
