Lookin At A Fiero, its an 85 but I saw it was a 5 speed and not a 4, is the 5 speed the Ge-Trag and 4 speed is izuzu?

Assuming it hasn't been swapped, it's the Isuzu 5spd which only came on the L4 cars from '85-'88. The only 5spd for the V6 cars was the Getrag-designed Muncie, from the end of '86 through '88. All other manuals for the V6 were the 4spd Muncie designed tranny.

The Izusus came in a 5 spd set up. Nicely geared too, but from what I gather.. Weaker than the Getrags or the Muncie transmissions. I don't think they came in a 4 spd. But the 5 spd is geared very nicely.

I use the 5 spd on my V6 application. It had the 4 cyl. But the V6 is excellent all around on the Izusu. Its not as snappy as the 4 spd, but when you're on the interstate, man 5'th gear is excellent!
