Hi guys,

I'm changing tires&wheels in my Fiero 2.5 SE from 14" (215/60) to 16" probably 205/55(GOODYEAR EAGLE F1 GS D2: Fiero with tires like that looks...faster ). Diameter of new wheels and tires will be bigger than original one (24.2in vs 24.9in) I would like to ask you if you have some experience how are going bigger wheels and tires on "normal" (I mine standard suspension without any modification) Fiero? In the shop somebody suggested me that size 205/55 is too big (too "high") and I could have problems, especially turning left/right...Do you think tires 205/55/16 are good or better choose 205/50/16? Thank you a lot for your opinion.

I have run 205/55-16 on the front of an 88GT and there was room enough, I had previously run 225/50-16's and they didn't rub either, but did cause handling probs.
At this time I have 205/50-15 on front and 225/50-16 on rear, it feels better to me but I have not done any timed tests to see if it really is better. Suspension travel and turning have not been a problem with any of these.

I have 16x8 front and 16x10 rear Simmons wheels with Kumo Ecsta P225 R55 front and P255 R50 rear on my 85SE ferrar* kit car. My 88GT has the factory 15 inch honeycomb wheels with Dunlop SA2 tires. Man, I can drive the 88GT all day long and love it. The 85 looks killer, but the Kumhos are louder and ride rougher; wider tires will wander and catch more road imperfections. As soon as I get the 85 finished painted, I'm gonna switch to Yokohama AVS dBs. Wanna buy my 16 inch Kumhos - they're like new 'cuase I always drive the GT

I had 205 55 all around on my other wheels. No problems at all. Now I have 205 50 front and 225 50 rear, and like this set up much better.

205x45x16 now as it came that way on my other formula and the yoko's are like new
but I would go 205x40 fronts and 235x40 rear if buying new and use a wider rear wheel to by at least a inch than the fronts

and add a rear anti-roll bar

Question wonder and be wierd

Not really a good choice for tire size, ray b. 205 40 is a very small tire. The diameter is at least 1.5" smaller than the stock 215/60-14. 205 50 would be much closer to stock size (although slightly smaller). If he used 205 40, he would have to lower his car at least 3" to get rid of the ugly fender gap, and then it would be sitting on the ground.
My opinion, stay as close to stock diameter as possible. It will help fill in the wheel wells better. And here's a nifty tool to help you http://www.fieroshop.com.au/tyrecalculator/

I'm using

205/50 x16ZR at the front, &
225/45 x16ZR at the back.

All Pirreli P Zero Asimetrico Tires.

The 225/45 x16 size only give a 0.5mph speedo error at 60mph. This is as close to stock rolling circumfrance as you can get.
