Can I bolt an 86 oil pan onto an 88 motor??

No, Unless you change the timing cover. The 86 oil pan has a flange that bolts to the bottom edge of the timing cover. On the 88's the bottom of the timing cover has a smooth edge and the oil pan mates to it with a seal.

Hmm.. So does that mean I can use the pan I swapped off my 3.4 on the 88 motor??

I don't have a spare 88 oil pan. What I'm trying to do is get my oil return fitting welded on a separate pan, this way I can just swap them and be able to do the job in one shot.

My camaro 3.4 motor is a 94. I swapped on an 86 timing chain cover and oil pan, while the factory 3.4 stuff is in a box somewhere. If I can just use that pan, it would be great...
