I just got a G-Tech pro meter to see how fast I go (yeah right). Everytime I floor it, or have quick acceleration, the volyage light comes on....sometimes it comes all the way on, sometimes it flickers??? But the amps stay the same. When I get off work sometimes the amps are really low..is that common. I start her up and she stays low..then I drive and it comes back up. I checked the cables to bettery, what else could it be??

Check connections to alternator. When you accelerate hard you may be rocking the engine just enough to loose contact on the alternator. If that isn't the problem then I'd have it tested. Also test your battery as well. You may be low on acid and the acceleration is rocking the acid and causing a voltage drop then the light comes on.

Or your alternator drive belt may b eslipping when you accelerate hard causing the alternator to slow down and volage to drop.

yes, could be belt...

read wire service in my cave. link at top of page. Replace the battery cables and the braided ground strap. Battery cables that look good often are not. Especially the turds with the cast lead ends.

you also need to check motor/trans mounts and dogbone(s). Under load the engine normally moves some. If any mounting hardware is bad it will move allot. Excessive movement can pull wires and cause major damage.
