okay ive never messed with the 2.5L is it just on the bottom near the oil pan soso? reason i ask if i wanna get over there, drain oil, do spark plugs and cables then drive it back to her house. lol. Thanks to whoever posts.

Depends on which year you have. All plugs are on the bottom but I think the newer ones will have the cartidge type filter up inside the big cap.

84-86(maybe 87) all have the plug in the oil pan underneath the engine, the oil filter is on the tranny/intake side of the engine.
88 has the filter in the pan

The 88 filter is in the pan. The others are all up under the intake.

The Ogre has it.

For the '84-87 4-bangers, you can reach up through the right side wheel well, behind the wheel, to get at the oil filter. The drain plug (15mm socket) is on the very bottom of the pan. You can't miss it.

On the '88 4-banger, the filter and plug are both in the bottom of the oil pan. Remove the drain plug and the filter falls out.

I've never seen the filter just "fall out" of the 88 2.5L crankcase. You have to pull down on the center tab with a pair of pliers and get soaked by the hot oil that gushes out. The filter has two O-rings that hold it in tightly.
