Hey guys! One quick question; Anyone here try the new roller performance cam for the Duke yet? I seen it there and am going to order one I think. I'm hoping it will be a good one

Get the lifters with it there those Roller Hydrolic lifters. I put the numbers into Desktop Dyno and pulled 147 HP at 5000 RPM with just those two profromance parts. I would go with the Holly Throttle body with it. others I will be doing is that flywheel they have its builited Aluminim wich would increse the Hp a little due to less restance on the engine. I removed the Catalytic Converter on my 86 and since the Air Conditioner wasnt working I removed the belt that drives it as well. they say each belt robs you of 10 hp and I put in a K&N filter and soon I will be getting the K&N filter lid and also will be installing a Coul induction scoop on the Decklid

Thank you for the reply. Yea, I believe that HP number up from the 90HP. But, according to Dyno2000, just the addition of roller lifters makes a stock Tech IV somewhere around 110HP. I like hearing 147HP. I won't be able to afford the performance TBI right now, but I will get it soon I hope. Too bad the cam doesn't come with the lifters, I'm gonna have to order them seperately I guess. Thanks alot ya'll!

'85 and up Iron Dukes, in Fieros, came stock with roller lifters. They still had around 95hp (the later years a little bit more). You are not going to get an increase in horsepower just by using roller lifters.

With all due respect I beg to differ. Why wouldn't it increase power? Roller rockers are also part of the valvetrain and they reduce friction and increase power some. So I would think that roller lifters would too. Dyno2000 always shows a power increase when I build an engine and go from flat to roller lifters.

All I am saying is that the '85-87 dukes came with roller lifters stock. They had the same horsepower (92hp) as the '84 dukes which had the standard hydraulic lifters, not the 110hp you get by plugging in the info into Dyno2000.

Yea I do see your point. I think GM may have kept it that way with the ratings, but the reduction in friction will at least be less of a strain on things, lol. Hopefully I'll still have the 147HP. It would be quite nice. Later..

I'm not sure I believe that by only changing to the Fiero Stores performance roller cam and lifters is going to give you 147hp like Desktop Dyno predicts.
I have plugged in the mods (which are more extensive than just a performance cam & lifters) I have done to my '84 duke into Dyno2000 and it predicts 131hp @ 5000rpms.

Either way, it'll be a nice kick in the butt for me I hope. Gotta be better than 95HP right? lol..

You definitely will get an increase in horsepower by going to a performance cam. Dyno2000 is usually pretty accurate if you enter accurate information, but I think it over estimates the performance gains of using roller lifters.

Let us know how it turns out. I intend to rebuild my '88 Duke once it gets to 200,000 miles, and a few extra horses sure would be nice!
