Just as the topic says, I am getting A LOT of smoke comming up. I just replaced my manifolds. Where they meet the down pipe, there is smoke rising. I think it is just from the Wd-40 I had sprayed on there, but I want to be sure.
Thanks guys!

There is a donut gasket at the spring-loaded junction between the crossover pipe and the downpipe to the converter. There are no gaskets between the manifolds and the crossover pipe, instead it is a belled/flanged seat that is held tight by the bolts.

If you are talking about were the manifolds attach to the Y there is no donut in there the manifolds have beveled ends, but if you are talking about at the bottom of the down pipe were it then goes into the cat section there is supposed to be donut in that one atleast thats how it is on my v-6. Hope that helps.

So just tightening the bolts more should get rid of the leak? (I have this problem too)

I had the same problem. I needed to use WD40 on those spring bolts to undo them. When the car was put back together, I had a lot of smoke billowing up. It went away after about 15 seconds, but seeing smoke come up from my engine made me really nervous .

The way that joint is designed, any leaks will cause outside air to be sucked into the exhaust instead of exhaust coming out. This is bad because the O2 sensor will see this air and think the engine is running too lean, and will richen the mixture to compensate. Of course, this will cause the engine to run too rich. As for smoke, if you have smoke actually coming out of the joint then you've got a clog somewhere, like the catalytic converter or the muffler.
If there are any dents or bends in the bell/flange sealing surface you will not get a good seal, no matter how tight you get the bolts.

A clog you say? That's odd, considering the Cat. and muffler are new. I see smoke coming out of the tail pipes as well, so it doesn't seem to be 100% clogged.
Also, smoke comes out of the egr when its plugged into the vacum system... does that mean there is a clog in the EGR system? How do you diagnos/fix something like that?
