'85 V6 (notchy)

I looking to find out which wire is always and only hot when the car is running, or key is in "run". Also as this is a tail-light mod, it would be nice to use a wire as close to the rear of the car as possible. I will be adding 2 more tailight bulbs onto a circut.

Thanks!!

Except orange is also often fused constant hot. The problem back there is that most of the wires are hot only when the particular switch is closed. For example, the brake wires are only hot when the brake pedal is depressed. Pink wires are usually constant hot when in run or start. These are often associated with the electronic fuel controls, so they can't carry much power. The circuit I would use would be the turn/back up circuit as it can handle the power. The problem is that the switches are inside the car, so you'd have to run wire inside the car. What is it that you are trying to do?

Hmm.. What if I used the power for the ecm?

I made a lit "PONTIAC" for between the back-up lights. I would like for it to be lit similarly to how it does on a fastback GT.

Thanks for the help so far, I'll put up a picture when I'm done...

Personally, I wouldn't use the ECM power. I'd go with the backup lights circuit. If you blow the fuse for the ECM, your engine will die. If you blow the fuse for the backup lights, then you won't have backup lights. Plus the backup lights are a higher amp fuse and are only on a small percentage of the time.
