Hi guys, I have just been tearing down the steering column and this fell out of somewhere . Does anyone know where it lives? Cheers, Paul.

Where were you during the disassembly process when you found this piece? or did you find this after you reassembled everything. It kinda looks like it belongs on the windshield wiper switch, or turn signal cam, but can't be certain.

It looks like the preload spring that holds preasure on the side of the "rack" (the alluminum gear thing with a loop on the bottom)in the upper collum. You will have to pull the pivot assy apart again to slide the rack out and put the spring back on. It will work without it but the switch will be a little loose in it's operation.

You can just make out the end of the spring in this picture:

I updated the picture to show the approximate location and orientation. The spring keeps the rack tightly against the pinion to eliminate play.

This is exactly why I love this forum.

I try to save all of the obscure photos, just incase I may need this info some day. Or can recal it for another member & post it.

THANKS to ALL whom contribute!

John
