Ok I bought a 1995 Series II 3800. I got most of the wiring harness, but I didn't get anything like a passkey module. The PCM is a silver box with three connectors on it and I am having trouble identifying it, the PCMs I have seen on the net have 2 connectors. Other than that I have made the flywheel from a 96 camaro flywheel, ordered the mounts, and have someone that can do the exhaust. What PCM do I have, can I get it reprogrammed? I am pretty afluent on computers, could i do it myself or does it take a special programmer. I'm ready to get this thing in my car Help me out

you got the switch over year.dont know if this is what you are asking but,the computer is a obd1 while the harness is a obd2.do you plan on using the tranny that came on the engine(if it did)?if so it also has its own computer(most model ive seen atleast).the 95 has been done,so i know you can do it,but ive heard the wiring is the biggest PITA there is.
shane
edit:i dont know about the reprogram, but i can tell you that the computer is the most picky thing ive even dealt with(its in my 95 bonneville)

I am using the gettrag, so I suppose I don't need the tranny computer. If my comp is obd-1 is that good or does it have a detriment to my engines power / does it even have passkey? I just always assumed I had the obdII

What was the engine out of. I was thinking Series II was after 97. Are you sure you do not have a Series 1 engine?

It is definately series II, it has a plastic cover with "Series II" written on it. I believe it is the first of the series II though.

Cover don't mean a thing. 1996 starts the series 2 hummm maybe talk to darth fiero
Is the blower snout on the engine long (II) or short(I)

Sounds like you do have a series I computer and maybe a ser II eng. if so you are ok. just get both schematics and a soft chair and just go for it!
Leave all tranny wires off. You will need to keep two wires to fool the PCM that it is in drive.

Do you have any # on the PCM? if not how about a vin# from the car?

The series II NA was released in 95, the Series II SC was release in 96. Not all lines got the new engine at the same time. Buick got them first.

I know for sure that it is Series II engine, it has a hitachi throttle body and other various things that I have seen on the internet as being a series II motor.

Do the connections for the ECM have screws in the center of them?

I'll describe the box in detail. Its a aluminum box dimensions 2x10x12, has several torx screws throughout, two of the will remove a little panel where I can access what I think is an eprom chip. The PCM has three connectors on it Red, white, and blue.

That sounds like ODB-I. The ODB-II ECMs that I've seen are at least 4 inches thick. Also, they only had two connectors.
