2 minor items unde my decklid that I need answers to. I'm trying to install a new cruise control cable that I got from Ed Parks. The old one was present, but broken and unattached at the throttle body end. I looked at another '84 so I know where it is routed and attaches. but at the throttle body end, the hole in the end of the cable doesn't seem to fit over the little stub that it needs to attach to. I thought it would just slide on, then be held in place with a little retaining clip or something. I also checked the old one, and it doesn't fit either. What am I missing here?

Second, the tube that goes from the base of the throttle body and connects to the top of the valve cover, next to the oil fill...what's it called? Mine doesn't have a tight fit, and having just replaced the valve cover & gasket, I find that this is a primary source of oil leakage at the top of the engine. Thanks!

Learning about cars as I go,

Andy

Bump. The second question is academic now...the piece was sealing well with the rubber in the valve cover, but the soft plastic elbow was not sealing well with the hard plasic base. I took care of that with some RTV, that appears to have done the job nicely.

Still looking for exactly how the cruise cable attaches to the throttle though...

Andy, does your cable end have a long slot with a bigger slot/hole at the opposite end? If so, you need to slip the cable on first over the round hole and slide it down the slot and then hook it back to the servo. I looked in the parts book, but it's not very clear. Good luck!

No...the cable just has a single hole, which looks to be 6mm in diameter. The peg is hard to get to...and hard to see. Maybe it's just supposed to slide over the end tight and I need to get right in there and push it on? the bottom of the stud is narrower, so it would allow it to rotate while pulling on the throttle...
